DECISIONS MADE BY CHILDREN'S COUNCIL

MAY 2009

Decision to combine Sunday School classes and use curriculum from Godly Play for the summer.

JUNE 2009

Agreed to begin a new program for rising 3rd -5th graders to begin September 13 led by Sandra Bilbro.  Agreed each child participating in the 11 week program would receive the New International Readers Bible.

AUGUST 2009

Decided that any child that will be four years old by August 30 would move up into the Pre K-1st grade Godly Play class.  Any child turning four years old by January or February may possibly be moved up at that time.  If any child moves up that is not potty trained, a parent or guardian will be required to stay in class with that child.

It was decided Linda Royer would request that church members purchase a Bible in honor/memory of someone for the children involved in the new Bible Adventures Class led by Sandra Bilbro.

OCTOBER 2009

It was decided Children's Council would work to offer a Christmas Play/Program rather than Trunk or Treat.

JANUARY 2010

Decision made by Children's Council for Linda Royer to write a policy for the loaning of Godly Play Materials.

Decided July 19-23, 2010 would be dates for VBS.

FEBRUARY 2010

MARCH 2010

Children's Council voted and approved the Policy for Loaning Godly Play Materials.

MAY 2010

Decisions made during Mediation Meetings with Pastor Dan Hester (Mediation Final Report Solution #1 & #2) Linda Royer will meet with parents concerning future 5th and 6th grade Sunday School Class.  Parents were in favor of this therefore, a Sunday School class for 5th and 6th grade will be formed.

Children's Council decided to have three Sunday School classes for ages 3 (potty trained) through 4th grade.  Groupings will be made each summer by the Children's Council.

JUNE 2010

Decided to have DVD series for combined children's Sunday School during July and August to give current teachers a break.  Decided teachers for July would be Shawn Stiles, Ann Norris, Pam Parker and Jennifer Willeford.  August teachers would be Megan McNutt and Lisa Schreck.

Discussed and agreed to purchase Bibles to give to VBS participants.

AUGUST 2010

Council agreed Shawn Stiles would be representative to report to Children's Council concerning music/drama program coordinated by Rhonda Hill

Council discussed different Sunday School classes:

  • 3-4 year olds-teacher not found yet. Pam Prentice/Shawn Stiles expressed some interest.  Council decided that Linda needs to chose a curriculum so people who are not trained in Godly Play can teach this group.
  • K-1st grade-Jennifer Willefor and Kim Davis will teach this class
  • 2nd -4th grade-Kris Lomonaco and Pam Parker will be in charge of this class.
  • 5th and 6th grade-Sandra Bilbro will be in charge of this class.

Decision made to adopt Children's Mission Proposal presented by Kim Davis and Ann Norris.  There will be two mission groups, ages K-2 and 3-5, meeting during the months of September, November, January, and  May.

Council decided that the name "Wiggly, Giggly Toddlers and Twos" should change to "Wiggly, Giggly Toddlers through Three" in order to correctly identify ages involved.

Council determined that $500.00 donation for Godly Play program would be spent at discretion of Godly Play Teachers.

SEPTEMBER 2010

Council decided that at this time there are not enough teachers to add a three/four year old Godly Play Class.

It was decided that a Godly Play Schedule of Stories did not need to be posted online.

Council decided to add parent representatives from various children's age groups to the Council.

It was decided to create a Children's Ministry Newsletter.  Items to be included and discussed were assigned to various council members.  This should be completed by the end of the year.
