Welcome to Stepping Stones Preschool. We are very excited about each year, and we thank you for blessing us with your beautiful children.
Curriculum:
Stepping Stones Preschool uses The Creative Curriculum For Early Childhood. This curriculum provides a basic structure for our program. Because we know that young children learn best through active interactions with their social and physical environment, the curriculum keeps the focus on the environment. Our goal will be to continually change and enrich the environm
ent to support learning and creativity in children.
The environment for three and four year olds should be organized into interest areas that include: blocks, table toys, art, dramatic play, sand and water areas, movement/circle time, library corner, and nature & outdoors. Activities in the classroom must promote fine and gross motor skills, intellectual, social/emotional, language and self care development.
All staff members should have the knowledge of and strive to promote the cognitive, social-emotional, and physical growth goals of the Creative Curriculum that correspond with the age group they teach.
Our teachers are carefully chosen. They are educated and trained to help your child in all developmental areas. We are members of the Cabarrus-Rowan-Stanley Association For The Education of Young Children (CRS-AEYC) and participate in continuing education. All teachers are certified yearly in CPR and First Aid.
Statement Of Purpose and Religion:
The purpose of Stepping Stones Preschool is to provide a safe, loving and nurturing environment in which a child can develop spiritually, socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically at his or her own pace. We look at each child individually and want to help each one develop a feeling of security and a healthy self-concept.
Stepping Stones Preschool acknowledges and respects the different religions and cultures represented in the program. We provide Christian education and promote spiritual growth through "Godly Play" at HUMC. We do have a blessing at snack time and meal time and observe the Christian holidays.
We encourage each family to attend a church of their choice and certainly welcome families to worship at Harrisburg United Methodist Church. You may call the church office at 704-455-2311 for questions.
