Statement of Purpose and Religion

The purpose of Stepping Stones Preschool is to provide a safe, loving and nurturing environment in which preschoolers can develop spiritually, socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically at their own pace.

Stepping Stones Preschool acknowledges and respects the different religions and cultures represented in our school. We encourage each family to attend a church of their choice and certainly welcome families to worship at Harrisburg United Methodist Church. You may call the church office at 704-455-2311 for questions.

nullPreschool Curriculum

Stepping Stones Preschool uses The Creative Curriculum For Early Childhood. This curriculum provides a basic structure for our program. Because we know that young children learn best through active interactions with their social and physical environment, the curriculum keeps the focus on the environment.

Our classrooms are  organized into learning centers that include: blocks, manipulatives, art, dramatic play, sensory areas, movement/circle time, library corner, science & outdoors. Developmentally appropriate activities in the classroom  promote fine and gross motor skills, intellectual, social/emotional, language and self care development.

All staff members  strive to promote the cognitive, social-emotional, and physical growth goals of the students they teach.

Enrichment Opportunities

  • Kingdom Kids is our Bible Time. The children hear wonderful stories from the Bible, told in developmentally appropriate ways. Through these Bible stories, songs, and other hands-on activities, we teach our students about God’s wonderful creation, His amazing love, and His precious Son, Jesus.
  • Fit-n-Play is a fun and engaging way to introduce children to the benefits of nullhealthy habits. The primary goal is to make fitness and healthy choices fun.  Through engaging stories and high energy activities, our coach makes being active the fun alternative to sedentary activities. Each child attends Fit-n-Play once a week for 30 minutes. Fit-n-Play is included in your tuition.
  • Field Trips - While we do not take any field trips off campus, we do provide special “in-house” programs throughout the school year. Some examples are: Discovery Place, Blue Moon Puppets, Fish the Magish, The Story Lady, and many more. These programs are all included in your tuition.null
  • Service Projects - One of the ways we teach our students about God’s love is by teaching them to love their neighbors as themselves. We reinforce this concept by participating in various service projects throughout the year. Some examples are: Helping with the Harrisburg Food Pantry, Pajama Jam, The Sam Wallace Memorial Trike- a-Thon, and more.
